Design of Ground Gas and VOC Mitigation Systems
A proposed development on or near land affected by ground gas or VOC emissions must be supported by a risk assessment submitted to the local planning authority by the developer (or his consultant) in order to comply with current planning policy and Building Regulations. Further to assessing the risks, we are often able to show that mitigation measures are not required.
See our risk assessment page for details of our ground gas and VOC risk assessment services.
If an elevated risk associated with ground gas has been identified the risk assessment is extended to show how risks will be reduced to an acceptable level by preventative measures and also include proposals for remediation strategies. As development stakeholders have to manage other risks, such as health and safety of construction staff, gas pollution liabilities and financial risks, expert design advice is crucial to the risk management and mitigation process.
We are proud of our expansive expertise in the delivery of design solutions for the successful management of ground gas on complex sites, which combine technical merit with a detailed understanding of the association practical constraints, legislative requirements and commercial complexities.
We have demonstrated that early involvement in project evaluation enables our engineers to provide an effective, technically robust remediation design; incorporating both traditional and cutting edge proven technologies to ensure that the preferred solution is appropriate, safe and cost effective. Also, our standard work practise involves looking at the project to assess the potential for incorporating sustainable remediation techniques as this will reduce the overall carbon footprint and the environmental impact associated with the suggested solution.
Our engineers, who are specialists in the areas of ground remediation and landfill engineering, are capable of providing clients with expert technical advice for all types of development including residential, educational, commercial and industrial facilities.
Our Hazardous Gas Protection design services include:
- Scoping and management of desk studies, site surveys and intrusive investigations
- Provision of factual and interpretative reports on gas contamination
- Production of gas remediation strategies
- Detailed gas remediation design for new and existing developments
